Gas-Insulated Substations (GIS)
As one of the industry leaders in the design, development, engineering, manufacturing, and servicing of GIS equipment, GE Vernova’s solutions provide utilities with reliable performance and global experience spanning more than five decades.
GE Vernova offers gas-insulated substations ranging from 69 kV to 500 kV for utilities and industrial customers with a full complement of primary and secondary equipment, services, and solutions to build and retrofit electrical infrastructure with a compact and modular design that minimizes the installation footprint. These projects can be delivered as Engineered Equipment Packages (EEP), Engineer, Procure and Construct (EPC) and support services.
Our portfolio of Gas-Insulated Substation (GIS) solutions includes a full range of SF6 as well as SF6-free options for 145 kV and 420 kV voltage levels, as well as smart devices that range from 50 kV to 800 kV. With its latest dual-gas concept, the T155 Dual Gas range supports utilities that are not yet electing to eliminate SF6. Both SF6 and SF6-free GIS include low gas weights and an advanced sealing system, as well as new digital solutions such as low power instrument transformers, while digital monitoring, control, and protection capabilities enable smart grid integration.
Air-Insulated Substations (AIS)
As an equipment OEM, GE Vernova’s Grid Solutions business supplies air-insulated AC Substation Solutions. Our portfolio of high-voltage equipment, including both live tank and dead tank breakers, gives us a unique business model in that we are able to manage our own supply chain and prioritize our equipment to the projects we are delivering.
Grid Solutions provides a comprehensive range of products and services for substation and electrical grid projects including control, protection, and monitoring hardware, high-voltage substation equipment, system studies, engineering, project and site management, commissioning, and testing. Grid Solutions designs, procures, constructs and project manages electrical substations and network infrastructure projects for utility and industrial applications. Whether green field substations or upgrades and retrofits of existing substations, Grid Solutions offers Engineered Equipment Packages (EEP), Engineer, Procure and Construct (EPC), and support services.
Our portfolio of air-insulated high-voltage equipment includes live tank breakers from 36 kV up to 1,100 kV and dead tank breakers from 38 kV up to 550 kV. We also manufacture our own disconnectors, instrument transformers, voltage regulators, bushings, insulator, surge arrestors, capacitors and reactors.
Modular Control Buildings
GE Vernova provides electric utility and industrial customers with modular control buildings intended for use in transmission and distribution substations. The modular control building is manufactured in a controlled environment. The panels are wired and cabled to an intertie box that accepts the field cables from the switchyard equipment. The entire building and panels are pretested at the factory and shipped to site to be set on piers or a slab foundation.
IEC 61850 Process Bus Solutions (Digital Substations)
With the unique Multilin™ HardFiber Brick solution, GE Vernova offers customers an alternative to traditional copper wired substation designs that significantly reduces installation costs. This enabling technology creates a reliable high-speed network with the ability to connect and transmit data from the substation to an Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) or Energy Management System (EMS). The Multilin HardFiber Brick solution complies to the IEC 61850 global industry standard.

GE Vernova’s Modular Substation Automation Systems bring together an extensive portfolio of products, services and engineering excellence to deliver the next generation of substation systems for our customers that address the challenges of legacy substation systems.
GE Vernova’s Modular Substation Automation Systems offering includes a wide range of solutions to suit customer’s specific requirements and can be pre-designed, pre-packaged and pre-tested.
Designed with scalability in mind, the systems are also flexible to support several applications including power generation, transmission and distribution, wind and solar collector substations, heavy industries, mining and oil and gas.
