DT1-72.5g-40
SF₆-free Dead Tank Circuit Breaker for 72.5 kV/40 kA
Leading SF₆-free Dead Tank Circuit Breaker for 72.5 kV Applications.
The SF₆-free DT1‑72.5g‑40 represents the next generation of dead tank circuit breaker technology for medium-voltage transmission networks. Rated up to 72.5 kV and 40 kA, the DT1‑72.5g‑40 is suitable for applications up to nameplate ratings, including definite‑purpose switching. It meets the challenges of power generation, transmission, and energy‑intensive industrial applications.
Significantly Reduced Carbon Footprint
Based on GE Vernova’s experience in dead tank circuit breakers, the DT1‑72.5g‑40 is designed as a direct alternative to its SF₆ predecessor. Using our g³ insulating and switching SF₆‑free technology, the breaker remains compact, with the same footprint, weight, and integration philosophy as traditional SF₆ designs.
While performance and lifecycle costs remain comparable, the carbon footprint is significantly reduced. The g³ gas mixture lowers the gas contribution to global warming by approximately 99% compared to SF₆, supporting utilities and industries in achieving their decarbonization targets.
Proven Performance and Reliable Operation
The DT1‑72.5g‑40 combines advanced self‑blast interrupters with durable spring‑spring-operated mechanisms, ensuring reliable performance throughout its lifetime. Extensive mechanical testing and M2 classification confirm its suitability for demanding operating conditions.
The design also provides inherent robustness under abnormal operating scenarios, including zero‑bar withstand capability, contributing to high operational security.
Designed to Support Grid Decarbonization
DT1‑72.5g-40 dead tank circuit breakers are part of GRiDEA, GE Vernova’s portfolio of solutions designed to accelerate the decarbonization of the electrical grid by eliminating SF₆ while maintaining proven dead tank performance.
The Center of Excellence for dead tank circuit breakers is located in Charleroi, PA (USA).
