GE provides GIS solutions from 50 kV to 800 kV, along with smart devices to maximize switchgear and network operation. The portfolio includes a full range of SF6 GIS as well as g³ (SF6-free) GIS at 145 kV and 420 kV voltage levels for utilities and industries worldwide.

GE is a leader in the design, material selection, development, engineering, manufacturing, and servicing of GIS equipment – with GIS experience spanning more than five decades. GE’s solutions are extremely compact and have a long operating life span, providing customers with a high level of performance and reliability to meet a variety of operating requirements.

GE's GIS portfolio is at the forefront of switchgear technology. Due to its new dual-gas concept, the GIS can use either SF6 or g³ gas. The 245 kV dual-gas GIS is currently in development as part of GE’s “LIFE SF6-FREE GIS” project co-funded by the European Commission through its LIFE Program.

With GE’s T155 Dual Gas GIS range, utilities that are not yet prepared to immediately eliminate SF6 from their largest substations can still install GE’s 420 kV dual-gas insulated substation with SF6 today and replace the SF6 gas with GE’s g³ technology when ready.

Furthermore, both SF6 and g³ GIS include low gas weights and an advanced sealing system. They also feature new digital solutions such as low power instrument transformers. Full digital monitoring, control and protection capabilities enable smart grid integration.
