As part of our GRiDEA™ portfolio, the GL315c–GL316c range is designed to accelerate grid decarbonization, enabling a considerable reduction in carbon footprint over the entire product life cycle compared to equivalent SF6-based solutions. The development of the GL316c circuit breaker was carried out in the frame of GE Vernova's "LIFE SF6-free HV Breaker" project, which is co-funded by the European Union’s LIFE Programme. 

Advanced Technology & Seamless Integration 

Specifically designed for applications at 300 kV, 362 kV, and 420 kV, this range utilizes the latest double-motion interrupting technology. With dimensions identical to our SF6 portfolio, these breakers offer a streamlined "drop-in" replacement, ensuring transportation, handling, and onsite installation are as efficient as traditional systems. Furthermore, the inclusion of composite insulators provides superior dielectric withstand under pollution and enhances safety for substation personnel. 

Digital-Native Performance 

The GL315c–GL316c range is fully digital-native, integrating the CSD100 point-on-wave controller:

  • Factory-Integrated Reliability: The CSD100 is tested during production to minimize onsite commissioning activities and ensure consistent performance.
  • Advanced Monitoring: Beyond switching, the CSD100 provides essential health monitoring, including advanced tracking of the CO₂-O₂ interrupting medium.
  • Precision Switching: By combining the CSD100 with our CO₂-O₂ technology, these breakers will enable smooth shunt reactor switching, effectively eliminating the risk of multiple high-frequency re-ignitions. 

Quality & Safety Commitment Our live tank circuit breakers are compliant with the latest national and international standards, including IEC 62271-100, and are produced under strict ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 quality standards. These breakers are manufactured in GE Vernova’s factories in Villeurbanne, France and Noventa di Piave, Italy.
